(This page has been updated for '07-'08 school year.) Our
crew has grown to a total of 12 students, in The United
States, who attended the same high school. One is now a
senior at that school, two are in their first year of college, six
are in their second year, and three are in their third year. Out
of respect for our parents and other adults who are
concerned about the hazards of the Internet, we won't
pinpoint our location. We can tell you a few things about us,
but this site is about and for you, not us.
Aaron, one of the founders of The Mail Crew in 2003, is no longer the youngest of
us, since we've added Andy, Wade and Rain. His 19th birthday was October 3, 2007.
He’s our resident genius and the main editor of the text of this site. He was 'adopted'
as the first honorary brother of Trey and Eric, shortly after his 14th birthday. His
parents have known that Aaron is gay since he was 13. They accepted that, but
seemed embarrassed by it. Since then, they’ve changed their thinking, as has Aaron’s
older brother, and they’re proud of their gay son. Aaron is a university sophomore this
year, following an active high school career, where he was at the top of his class
academically, a member of Student Council, one of the student managers of the
football team, an editor of the school's weekly newspaper, and a member of the
yearbook staff. He has become a good guitar player, with help from Trey and Eric and
a guitar teacher. He edits (we call him Mr. Picky) for some Internet fiction writers,
and he's written one story, which is linked from the red box on our Stories page.
Andy and Wade: We're listing these guys together because they're so much alike,
and have been partners since they were 12 years old. Yep, that's right, 12. They say
they've never considered looking elsewhere for partners -- they're a solid couple. Andy
is 18 (4/19/07) and Wade is also 18 (3/11/07), and both are now college freshmen
(year 1). They're not much into sports like the rest of us, but that's cool. They're
more into artistic endeavors and are members of choral groups and active in their
drama department. Andy and Wade are the two naturally effeminate guys mentioned
on our How It Started page, whose mannerisms Aaron had tried unsuccessfully to
imitate, when Aaron was 13 and they were 12. When we asked them to join our crew
in June 2005, they wondered if we just wanted some "token girly fags" in our group.
Since they've joined us, their self-image and self-confidence have improved, and they
say they're happier than ever. We're very pleased to have them with us.
Billy, 20 (12/20/07), has been Aaron’s life partner since January 2003. Billy is now a
college sophomore, following his very successful stint as the place kicker on our high
school football team during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. He’s now a
member of various college student organizations. His parents fully support him in
everything he does, and they have no problem with the fact that he’s gay. He has a
younger brother and a younger sister who are just beginning to know what’s up with
Billy, orientation-wise. Billy has remained very active in The Mail Crew, and was one
of its founders. Most of us call him BillyBoy, but Aaron calls him BillyRooster. (We
don't ask, they don't tell.)
Chris is 19 (1/13/07), and he’s Jon’s partner. Chris and Jon made contact through
our original e-mail group in 2003, after each asked us to give his e-mail address to
the other. They knew each other at school and played golf together, but neither knew
the other was gay until our e-mail group was started. Chris is out to his parents, who
have always been supportive of him. He's a college sophomore this year. He’s a
swimmer and a golfer. He and Jon play golf with their dads whenever they get the
opportunity, and they've been known to drag the rest of us onto a few golf courses.
David, 21 (6/28/07), is now a college junior (year 3). He’s straight, and he and Eric
have been best friends since preschool. David was a starter on our high school
football team, as a tight end, and a member of the advisory board of our student
council. Now that he's in college and living off campus with his fiancé, Susan, he's not
available to us as much as before, but he's still very important to our project,
handling e-mail from straight guys who have questions after leaning that some of
their friends are gay. David is an avid hunter and fisherman.
Eric, 21 (7/18/07), another one of our founders, has been Trey’s life partner since
September 2002. After that date he still lived with his mom, who is very supportive of
his being gay, but spent most of his time at Trey’s grandfather’s house (our original -
and still primary - headquarters), where Trey lived. Eric’s dad was killed by a drunk
driver when Eric was two years old. When he was 10, he and his mom moved near
Trey’s grandfather (“Pops”), he’s been like another son to Pops. Eric was a starter on
our high school football team, as a running back, and a member of our student
council's advisory board. He made excellent grades and was definitely a student
leader. He's maintaining those qualities as a college student. He and Trey are great
guitar players and singers. Eric is full of mischief, and he's a master prankster.
Jon, Chris’s partner, is a 19-year-old (2/22/07) college sophomore. When Jon came
out to his parents during the summer of 2002, they sent him to a shrink to ‘straighten
him out.’ That sent Jon into a grand funk, since he knew he was gay and born that
way. In January of 2003, on Super Bowl night, he wrote to our original Ask Us Now e-
mail group and asked us to call him. We called him and brought him to Headquarters
for the night. Now, he no longer considers suicide, and his parents have accepted him
as he is. He’s one happy dude now, and still one of the leaders of our crew. Jon's
great passion is golf, and he's a competitive swimmer.
Rain, 17 (10/27/07), is now our youngest crew member. His former-hippie
grandparents named his dad Rain, and he inherited that unusual name, which we all
like, even though Eric calls him Drizzle. Rain is a high school senior (grade 12) who
loves sports of all sorts and is a cross-country runner. He's an excellent student who
is active in clubs, and he's a great dancer and a life-of-the-party guy. He's still single
and looking, but he intends to wait for Mr. Right before getting seriously involved
(yeah, you know what we mean) with anyone. After closely watching Aaron's editing
tactics and getting some pointers, he's been editing some fiction, but he's not quite
as picky as Aaron...yet.
Scot, 19 (4/11/07), is Todd's partner. They also came out to each other as a result
of the original e-mail group at our high school. Scot is a college sophomore now, and
still one of our crew's leaders. He solves most of our computer problems. He's active
in student organizations and he's an all-around good guy, almost as full of mischief
as Eric. Scot wrote to Ask Us Now (our original e-mail group) and asked that Trey and
Eric be with him when he came out to his parents, during late winter (March) of 2003.
His parents took it well, and they’re supportive of his relationship with Todd. Scot
loves water skiing, and he's become very good at that. Like most of our crew, he's a
good bass fisherman and does some squirrel and rabbit hunting.
Todd, 19 (3/14/07), is also now a college sophomore, and most of what we said
about Scot applies to Todd. His parents support him and his relationship with Scot.
Todd and Scot became the (then) newest members of our crew when they replaced
one of our originals, Paul, when he went to an out-of-state university in the fall of
2003. Todd's another popular, all-around good guy, active in student organizations.
Trey, 21 (8/15/07), last in this alphabetical listing, is first and foremost a leader.
He’s the Alpha Male of our group, although his partner Eric shows many signs of being
an Alpha, too. Trey lived with his grandfather after coming out to his parents in June
of 2002. His dad, who has since changed his attitude, totally rejected Trey, so “Pops”
took him in on a permanent basis. Trey had spent summers with Pops since he was
10 years old, and it was during those summers that Trey and Eric became close
friends. Trey, a strong student leader, was a starting offensive back on our high
school football team, vice president of Student Council his junior year, and a member
of its the advisory board as a senior. Like Eric, he's building on his leadership abilities
and good study habits in college, where he's now a junior. Trey is the "father" of The
Mail Crew and of our original e-mail group. He's been the "go to" guy for lots of the
leaders of e-mail groups that have been started because of this website.

This '07-'08 academic year, Trey and Eric, Aaron and Billy, Jon and Chris, and Scot and
Todd are attending a large university in a nearby city, but not far away from our
original headquarters. The eight of them share a large house near campus. David and
his fiancé Susan also attend that university and have an apartment nearby. Andy and
Wade are freshmen at a smaller university in that same city, and live together near
their campus.
